Surrounding yourself with the RIGHT people is crucial when it comes to building your confidence and we don’t just mean professionally. Find the people you admire, and follow their lead. Find the people who encourage you, and connect with them regularly. And find the people who understand your goals, your dreams and your determination, and let them help you achieve and succeed. THESE are the people who want to see you win, and who you need to have in your corner.

2. Do your research!

There’s nothing worse than venturing into the unknown, uninformed and ill-prepared, so make sure this doesn’t happen to you. Talk to people and research companies and businesses you’re interested in. Identify role-models and find out how THEY did it. 

Knowing what you’re getting yourself in to will ALWAYS help you increase your confidence because you’ll be better equipped to deal with whatever comes your way. Plus, a new journey is ALWAYS easier, less scary and loads more fun if you have the right guides to help you stay on track.

3. Back yourself!

YES… you HAVE to believe in yourself, whether you like it or not! You already have everything you need, and you know more than enough, to pursue your dreams and achieve your goals. You just need to BACK YOURSELF! 

Remember your worth, don’t sell yourself short and above all else, believe in your ability to learn and grow. This will not only increase your confidence, but it’ll also give you the BEST starting point from which to launch your new working life.

4. Take off the cape!

Working women (and mums especially) are often referred to as Super-Women, because they somehow manage to DO IT ALL. Cooking, cleaning, working, chauffeuring, counselling, socialising – they’re ALL part of a working woman’s daily life. And the list doesn’t end there. But WHY do we torture ourselves and why do we always feel the need to do it all?!? 

Before you go back to work, try to recognise when it’s necessary to take the cape off… even if just for a little while. You ARE enough and you are DOING enough, so do yourself a favour and stop trying to do it ALL. Even superheroes need a break once in a while. 😉
